Trying to run TurboCad 15 Deluxe in Win 7
Read 7392 times

Am trying to transfer the program from a Windows XP computer to a Windows 7 computer.  Have no problem with the installation.  When I try to start up the program, I get a message "Do you want the following program from an unknown publisher to make cahnges, etc."  I click yes, the program tries to start for a few seconds and then nothing.  I have tried the compatibility settings, set "Run as Administrator", but no success.  When I run the update patches, the install programs starts, extracts the files and then the error message "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing or the update patch may update a different version of the program, etc".  The updates worked fine on the XP installation.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to make your life easier

get Turbocad Designer 2D 18 from Turbocad for $39.95.

next step up is Deluxe 18 right from Turbocad for around $100.

Maybe the word transfer is confusing.  I am replacing the XP computer from which I run the TurboCad program with a Win 7 system.  TurboCad is the only program of 65 running in XP that would not run after installation in the Win 7 system.

Web searches show this is not an uncommon problem and go back to the release of Win 7.  Is there a solution?

i think i'm getting that you  have a boxed version of turbocad Deluxe 15

and you are installing it on Win 7?

is that correct?

why do you want to install 'upgrades' right away?

1 read upgrade page carefully.

make sure you're on right version ( 15, 16 , 17 and Deluxe and Pro )

my Upgrade 16.1 and 16.2 plus patch in there somewhere was

very easy to screw up.

2 i did minimum install and stayed there.

doing 'recommended' default install i had nasty conflicts like

browsers and window explorer couldn't see .TCW files.

probably because of the way Win7 'marked .TCW files for

there 'Desktop' filing system.

3 tip: right click on Turbocad desktop icon and click on Properties and

it will tell you how Win7 is running Turbocad.

Have A Nice Day!

Hi

Many thanks for the response.

Correct, I am trying to install the TurboCAD 15 Deluxe boxed version on Win 7.  The install from the original disc goes without a hitch.  When I try to run the program, there is activity for about 5 seconds and then nothing.  It seems that the TCW15.exe file doesn't find what it's looking for.

Compatibility setting tries and running the updates were suggestions from Internet sites.  These
were done after many attempts with minimal, typical and full installations from the original disc.
None worked.

Again, thanks.

i'm sort of stumped for the moment.

i thought my associate was running Version 14 on Win 7.

found out 2 or 3 days ago it's Win XP.

then mine's Deluxe 16 on Win7.

you could find another computer with Win 7 and

see if it will install.

which probably isn't very practical.

did see one tidbit.

a reseller listed 'PC Requirements' for Pro 15 as

Win 7 in * 32 bit * mode.

Hi

I've seen the 32 bit references.  Today's entry level computer, lattop or desktop, starts at 4Gb; dictating 64 bit systems.  I have three Win 7 Home Premium systems with 6 to 16Gb.  Don't see going back to a 2 or 3Gb 32 bit system.

As a reference, the TurboCad was running in an 8 GB WinXP Home 64 bit system, with no problems over  two years.  I was surprised it wouldn't run in Win7.

Thanks for the response.

1 uninstall & install Turbocad 15 Deluxe

to Win 7 system.

2 before you start Turbocad

click on Turbocad icon on desktop once to highlight it.

 right click on it

 click on properties

 click on compatibility tab

 select XP service pack 2

3 start Turbocad

let us know how that works.
