Hey Guys, I am working my way through Don Cheke's excellent tutorial on Architectural presentation and keep having a problem the opening tool. When I close the drawing and re-open it the openings are not shown in 3d. I can select the 2d representation and change it in the settings but the changes don't seem to save. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gamblewood

Not sure if I understand the question properly but if its the case that when you open the drawing the coordinate system shows a 2d representation then you can try this.
1. With an object in the drawing selected right click.
2. A menu should appear, click on selector 3d properties.
3. Click on general and select the 3D Mode for model space.

Hopefully this should help

What doors are you talking about ??
The Front Doors show
On interiordoors there are a group that show swingdirection and doorleave, if this is the one's you think about, they will not cut anything as they are not in a Block
If i Select and insert an opening, it opens with the 2' 6" Block, and cut out an opening when placed, save, close and reopen the drawing and the opening is still there.

Why not ask Don?   ???

You can design without engineering, but you cannot engineer without design.
Using Win 10 with Designer 2016/2017 and TurboCAD Pro. Plat. 2018/2019 + Lightworks (64-bit versions) + AnimationLab 5.2.

When the drawing opens there are 4 rectangles drawn in "firebrick". There is a 5th one in the front door opening (which does show in 3d). Those are pulled from my block palate. I can select them and under "openings" change from 2d to 3d in the 2D/3D Preview box and it will show in 3D for the remainder of the time the drawing is open, but when I reopen the drawing they are only shown in 2D.

I don't have that version of TC. So I cant look at your drawing. - It sounds like you are not using the opening tool correctly.
-Unless the opening tool has changed
In my version the opening tool needs 2 blocks. A 2d representation and a 3d representation. Both need to be assigned in the opening tool.
When you are looking at a plan view(top view) of the opening you see the 2d version any other view and you see the 3d view.

I can select them all by color, there are doors and windows Blocks.
Can it be that the layer is turned of at your end ??
I did mess around with the layers, so i maybe turn them on here on the copy i have.

Nikki
It's the same in v 2018 and he have 2 Blocks for each opening, 1 horizontal for 2D and 1 vertical for 3D that will cut out the opening, or at least for the ones i looked at

Torfinn

Edit; Attached what i see
Just to be sure, the 2D will show in Top view only and 3D in perspektive view, is that the issue ??

This is what I get with a Draft render, the Opening ‘outline’ shows, but it doesn't actually open.
A Quality render shows the Opening.
If I turn on the "Front Door" and "Front Door Frame" layers, then I see some doors.
