stl file openoing

I sent a question to support folks with an attachment of an stl file. They closed the ticket.
In the new 2019 Pro version, there is no .stl file open option.
But it used to be available in 2017 pro. But then all I see is some points. While in FreeCAD, I can see all the details...
How do you open an stl file? And how do you keep stl open file in the list of files that can be opened?
Then where do I learn how to  read off dimensions assuming they are 1:1
If someone can help, I can attach the file here again.
thnx

IMSI's web page listing file import/export capabilities for TurboCAD Windows hasn't been updated to 2019, yet (get off the pot and do that, okay?), so I can't confirm that STL import went away in this version.

However, if you can upload the file, one of us can convert it to TCW.

I have the "STL" format in TurboCAD 2019 Deluxe, Professional and Platinum (V26.0, Build 30.0). Maybe it will show up in an Update?

I somehow have problems looking up msg!
Or finding how to post a new one....

I got the auto response saying my msg is posted b ut do not see it listed yet. Here it is
I cannot attach the file. Turns out it is an stp file which is not in the list.
In FreeCAD, I get it saved-as in FCstd format which opens in FreeCAD but it may not be useful to you.
Not stl at all. Sorry.
It opens in FeeCAD & I can  spacebar to remove the cover & see details of the assembly inside.
No such options in 2019 TC Pro
Forum admin somehow has to give permission to submit an stp file format. Other formats won't maintain the integrity of the model.
thnx much.

STP (aka STEP) is a file format for Solid models; STL is for Surface models.  Only TurboCAD Platinum can work with solid models; all the other versions work with surfaces.

STP files can be exported to STL from TC Platinum; if you cannot do that in FreeCAD, one of us can do it if you can get the file uploaded.  The 'stp' suffix isn't in the list of allowed file types when you upload, but it is accepted.

If you are still having troubles getting your file uploaded, it is probably because the file is larger than 5 MB.  You could try putting it in a ZIP archive.  If it's in ASCII format, then the file size will be reduced by 85% (typically).  If it's in a binary format, then you might have to use Dropbox or similar to send us a link because ZIP won't shrink it that much.
