Doors and Windows
Read 7250 times

I upgraded to Plat 21 hopefully to get more arch tools and 3d doors and windows.

I don't see any difference yet from 20. Where can I get the 21 doors and windows library or more ready made doors and windows.

If you have the Platinum edition (see Help / About), look in the Style Manager palette, Door or Window Styles, under "Type" & "Shape". If you have the Pro Basic edition, you just get 2 types and no shapes.

YEP, have that,
I guess I thought there was a library of different doors and windows you could just plug in.

The learning curve is exhausting, seems like it should be easier. I do a new door in style manager, but you still have to size it, I think, that is no fun. I probably am just doing something stupid, it can't be this hard.

trying to make door with lites right now, just nothing seems to work.

Basically just trying to convert to doing new houses in 3d, seems like the way to go, if I could just do it.

I find it best to have the Selection Info Palette on display when using the door and window tool so you can quickly change options before and after insertion, See Below:

I know John R has made loads of doors.... If you ask him kindly I am sure he could post a file  ;)

It usually is on the Rh side, the palettes that fly out.

You can access your "Customize" by right clicking on the TC window to so this below to tick/untick the tools/palettes you want to have:

You need to select the door or window tool to have access to the parameters:

NOTE: YOU NEED TO HAVE WALLS IN YOUR DRAWING BEFORE THE TOOL CAN BE USED.

If you dont like to make the size when insert a door or a window, make a block out of it and the size is ready, ofcourse this will make it more cumbersome to make any change to it.

How to make this, insert a window/ door in the size, design etc. like you want in a wall, copy it out of the wall and make a block of the copy.
For changing the block, go to library palette Block, select the block and select "edit Block ", when in edit mode select the block and go to Selection Info ", do your changes and go back to Block Palette, finish "Edit block".

Yes , I did the walls first, that's what I am trying now, inserting doors and windows, also just tried "opening" ,  again , just a strange interface. No luck there either
I believe walls and roofs are there own little program , changing  doors to blocks or solids seems to really not insert, or I just can't.

I need a good tutorial.

Try again later.

Thanks

This is where Templates with Presets come in very handy. You could have Presets made for various door widths, then select a pre-made "Style" in Properties or the Selection Info palette. You could also set up a Preset for a particular door.

Here's a file on Dropbox with some examples of Doors and few Windows: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ljnrj4eahy5tqar/Door%20Examples.zip
I hope this helps.

Thanks John and Darrel, I'll study these files and tutorials. I have watched some of Paul's youtubes.

Had to let my brain rest a bit.

Well, guess I did not.

I see the building, beautiful.

I have the basic door creation down, but the glass lites and 6 panel doors are another thing, I was hoping somebody  had a library or a source for already drawn doors and windows. I use to use "FloorPlan" but it was many years ago, seems like there were catalog of doors. I downloaded the new TCFloorPlan trial, like pushing a chain , no luck with that either.

Currently I am trying to decode openings. tried 3d blocks, no luck yet.

Thanks
