Looking at a new laptop

Howdy all. Been sometime since I posted and figured someone here would be able to assist.

My Dell laptop finally after many years of work went to laptop heaven (it still starts and promptly shuts down) so I have figured it is time to get a new laptop. I have been looking at Sony Viao, Acer Asus. I am going to run TurboCAD products but want to stay away from Win 8, but I may have to get a Win 8 machine and down grade it to 7. I will certainly look for one with a dedicated graphics card.

Any thoughts? Other than spend as much as you can afford. Thanks.

I bought a Sony Vaio VPCEJ about a year ago. It's a great 17" laptop and ideal for doing work when away from my main computer. It has a core i5 processor and 6gb ram and runs TC20 well. Got it when Currys were having a sale and had £300 off the regular price. I generally like Sony products as they seem to be well built.
