Hallo together,

does anybody know how the drapery in a theatre fuctions. I pull a line then it opens regularly in both directions, and also I can close it balanced.

There must be something like a loop running over rolls and this loop pulls the drap hanging on another line.

So I theoretically think it must be. I don´t know how to make it real. Has someone an idea.

Does this help?
The distance AB gets bigger when you Pull to Open, and smaller when you Pull to Close.

@ John: Thank you, but it is a number too big for me.

@ lemel: This goes in the right direction. The drapery hangs on an extra line?

Is there not another roll necessary on the lower loop?

Hi Rudl,
Yes to both.
The diagram is just a schematic, not a detailed implementation.

Rudi -

They probably operate on a beefed up version of the drapery rods in almost every living room. Cords on pullies moving travellers which move the drapes.
