Is there a way to mirror an object without copying it?

Minus 1 in the X or Y Scale fields.

Select your object. You can move the Reference point to one side or leave it in the default position. Enter "-1" in the X Scale field, then Enter.

In addition to John's method...  just hit the delete button after mirroring... and it will delete the objects that you had selected to mirror.

When applied to a 3D object, scaling by negative 1 merely rotates it; it doesn't produce a true mirror image.

Be aware using mirror copy you loose any 3D part list history and they just become ACIS solids....

"Be aware using mirror copy you loose any 3D part list history and they just become ACIS solids...."

If you create a block of the entity you wish to mirror copy prior to the command any part tree and or constrained information in the entity will not be lost after the mirror copy. Any changes to the entity can be made in “edit content” in the block palette.
