Trial version of CAM plugin for v15 Platinum

I am currently using TurboCAD v15 Platinum and want to evaluate the CAM plugin. Can anyone tell me:

a) Where I can find it?
b) Does the v16 CAM plugin work with v15 TurboCAD Platinum?
c) Does anyone have one for sale for v15 TurboCAD

My requirements are for electric guitar body profiling, pocketing and chamfering. I am building my own 3-Axis CNC machine. I will be using Mach3 Mill as CNC controller

I'm new to this whole area and it seems that easy to use CAM software is really expensive  :o -  in the UK! So if the CAM plugin has enough functionality I will use it until I need something more sophisticated.

Kind Regards

Mike

I think the current version of the plug-in will work with TC15, here is the link, http://activate.imsisoft.com/gennedfreetrial.aspx?productpage=TCPCAM17

TCC works well & will do all that you described, but it is 2.5D & not a 3D CAM package.
I too have a 3 axis 48" x 96" CNC router controlled with Mach3

Any luck with the CAM plug-in? There are a couple of us here on the forum that use it regularly, myself & gletha should be able to answer any questions you may have.

Hi Kmartin

I tried it and it only points to the v18 plugin, which does install and then goes into a constant registration loop, so no luck!. I have e-mailed TC to see if they have an old v15 trial version so at least I could evaluate it and decide if I want to hunt around for a full copy. CadandGraphics has them instock but I don't want to waste money if it does'nt do what I want or the learning curve to use it is so massive. Of course there is balancing ease of use against cost and time....

I will be time restricted with building the CNC, setting it up, finding the optimum cutting conditions for the woods we are using (very exotic and VERY expensive!!)

Kind Regards
Mike

I've now evaluated the TurboCad CAMv15pro plugin and it is pretty good. It shows the material removal and tool paths simulation very well and it's strongest point is the integration with the existing CAD package. At the price it is very good. Not many packages can do open pocketing (cf "Side Milling") My only gripes are no outof the box configuration for Mach 3 and no non-metal properties supplied. But thanks to the great help from kmartin, the Mach3 problem is solved. The learning curve for the plugin is reasonable and the supplied tutorials give a good idea about the functionality. The most intuitive package I have evaluated so far is VisualMill 6.0, but that is nearly 10 times the cost! Followed by ArtCAM express. However for my 2.5D work I think it will be TurboCAD CAM just for the feature set and integration with TurboCAD
