I have purchased this machine its a small CNC machine. I am having trouble making the g-code to run it using the TurboCAD CAM. How do I solve this problem?

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger

Are you opening the saved G-Code from TC and opening it in the software that came with the machine which I think's called "GRBL Control"?

I am not familiar with the CAM add-on yet. Its a learning curve for me right now.

There are more options in TC's CAM program than are needed for the small CNC machine that is hitting the market now. Amazon has several of these machines in their inventory as well as other companies. The material indicated in the TC's CAM is all high-grade metals and the small CNC machines only have a 5.5-watt laser and 1/8"d spindle for doing carving in wood, plastic, etc.

My wish is that TurboCAD will make a CAM for this size machine.

Thanks,
Roger

You do not have to worry about which machine etc. just leave the defaults and ignore the metals etc. These are only for generating feed speeds and defaults for those machines and are ignored/overridden by the software that comes with the CNC machine.

Once you have generated all the operations you then save it as G-code then import it into the software that comes with the machine... that software is the interface between your computer and CNC not TC.

I plug in the info that seem necessary and I get this error message component 'Richtx32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I sent the Gcode from file and got the above error. and the file size is '0'.

Hi Roger

The error message is from the GRBL Control software?

Can you attach the TC file that you have generated the G-Code with?

Hi Roger

Firstly the *.tcw did not appear to have any CAM in it. The *.DXF looks like you ran the CAM but saving it in this format will not keep the CAM information so always save as a *TCW.

I have attached your file with the basic CAM operations and also the G-Code saved as a *Txt file which you open in the Machine Control software.

You have to use 2D primitives so you can select these for profiles for the CAM to perform the operations on.

Hi Darrel,

I am using this machine for cutting out parts in 0.125 plywood that is 9"L x 5.25W. I have parts showing that I am cutting out with a 1.2mm router bit. I have tried to get the gcode but have failed. I must be doing something wrong.
Can you help?

oops the next reply will have the file.

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger

Sorry I have not got back to you sooner... I will try to make a video using your file of how I set up the CAM as it will probably make it a lot clearer of how to use it.

Hi Roger

Sorry for the delay, I have had two bouts of illness... will get something together over the next few days.
