What are the basic material settings for creating a shiny material based on the default colours from tcw, this is not for a metal material?

I would open LightWorks Help to the "Reflectance" page and look through the various shaders. They all have an example or two. "Conductor" may fill the bill, or maybe "Car Paint".

I'm sure Don Cheke has something at his site Textual Creations. He's real good with shiny objects.

Had no good results with anything  shiny, could someone share just one example of a shiny surface material in Lightworks?

No expert but did you try using some of the default environments..some of the HDRI help bring out the shine..
A round sphere will show more shine than a square box ..
Using car paint also gives nice quick results just by it's default settings..

Something for you Darrel

Created in TC21 Deluxe
I'm using the 2D colour of people to gauge a setting of light and Ambience ... (SKY & AMBIENT)
Then i adjust the TC Materials to suit (look for the Ambient Section of the materials properties)

Then fiddle with all settings to tweek it.

I'm not the expert, Its just a Base to start with ... Hope it helps

Cheers
Mike

Here's my old "Testing Materials" file that used to be in the Samples folder. It's in TurboCAD 2018 format. It has an assortment of objects with some shiny or kind of shiny.

Thanks Mike & John thats much appreciated. I did get a good shiny material by pure accident, I copied a matte coloured material and used that as the base for a test. While editing the Mirror attributes I accidentally entered a wrong value and the penny just dropped. So I will post later today with some pics as Im on my mobile now.

So here is some images of what Ive got so far. Reasonably happy with the results but always open to improving the realistic nature of the materials.
