Remove duplicate lines?
Read 1793 times

I have gone to the TurboCad help screens and they infer that there is a 'remove duplicate lines' function under the Modify heading.
I am using Turbocad 21 and would very much like this option as duplicates cause havoc with Laser Cutting.
Anyone have any clue where this command is?
Many thanks

I dont think there is a command for it, but if you select all the line's with the "green" selection window, press shift and click one more time and select the last one on the list and then hit delete you will be left with the one you selected when pressed shift.
The last one in the bottom of the list that pop up is normally the last one you made, if it turns out to be the wrong one, just crtl + z and they come back and you can select/ try another one.

Hi Doolish,

uummm, not sure where you're getting this information, as it is a new one on me.
Which doesn't mean, it doesn't exist!
We could all do with something that removes, automatically, all unwanted lines, et cetera.

Can you post some evidence, a screen grab perhaps, of where this is inferred?

This is the quote that come up on the TurboCad help pages if you search for 'delete duplicate lines'. It is a function within Autocad.

The Remove Duplicates command examines curves and solids for duplicate representations.

Example
1. Select the Remove Duplicates command.

2. Select the objects to check for duplicates.
pasted-graphic-1

3. Select Yes to remove the duplicates. Selecting No leaves the duplicates within the drawing file.

Aha!

I think it would be a good idea, to ask this question in the TurboCAD Mac forum:

    http://tcmacforum.imsisupport.com

as this 'feature', relates to Mac versions of TurboCAD.

Remove Duplicates is in the TurboCAD Mac Power Pack. It's not available in TurboCAD Windows.

Thanks but that asks more questions than it answers.
Why does a search originating from TurboCad give answers for a Mac version and why does a Mac version offer an additional function than the Windows version.
I am becoming extreemly frustrated with TurboCad and think the time has come to look elsewhere.

Thanks to those that answered - appreciated

Dear agony aunts:  Is it inappropriate to advise people to grow up in a forum?   Thirty years ago I had no idea what passive aggressive meant.

The answers are that TC Mac is a different program that runs on a different operating system, and it has some different functions to the PC version.  Nothing has been done to deliberately frustrate you.   Your pronouncement says a lot about you, nothing about  TC.

You do have a good point there. I'd say this is very confusing to a new user.
Working in TC 2017 windows I go to online help > search for 'remove duplicate lines" hit enter and  it takes me to the page explaining what I need to do.
If you read the "fine print" it says for Mac power pac.
How is a "New user" supposed to know this.  ;D

Try using only the 'off line help" there's some good info in there and what you can't find or figure out just ask here in the forum.

"Off line help" is activated from  > Options "program set up"
