Beam Analysis Tool & GrafiCalc Elements tools by TurboCAD

I've been asked to provide technical evaluations for my drawings covering proposed materials used v alternate available etc, stress testing and vibration analysis.

Can I get some feedback on the BAT tool & GE tools?

1.  Do they integrate with my TCW Platinum 2016 or are they stand alone?

2.  Can I get answers from either re: Aluminum v Steel components as objects in tcw?
( will they evaluate the structural capacity of either material )

3.  Is or are these tools designed by engineering companies/engineers?

4.  Are the answers reliable and can they be factually checked by engineering computations?

5.  Do they produce the calculations for checking?

Is there any evaluation or trial software to try?

Thanks

Darryl

I'd never heard of GrafiCalc; Google indicates that it's not a TurboCAD product but was developed by GEOMATE, and that it can be used in conjunction with a CAD program. I'm guessing that TCad would be a suitable CAD program. It's been several years since I used a TCad Beam Analysis tool, but here's how it was then...

1.  Do they integrate with my TCW Platinum 2016 or are they stand alone?

Integrates smoothly with TCad.

2.  Can I get answers from either re: Aluminum v Steel components as objects in tcw?
( will they evaluate the structural capacity of either material )

Calculates stresses; it's up to you to decide whether those stresses are acceptable.

3.  Is or are these tools designed by engineering companies/engineers?

Don't know.

4.  Are the answers reliable and can they be factually checked by engineering computations?

They can be checked, and IMO they should be. (Would you blindly trust important calcs made by a brand-new employee?) But each time I checked, I found the results to be correct.

5.  Do they produce the calculations for checking?

Nope; just the results.

Yup.

EDIT: Once you've set all the parameters and clicked OK, the second attachment below shows what you get (this one is with all the default parameters, and I have not checked any of these results).

Hi Darryl

Check your last install disk or download. My last two purchases of TurboCad Pro Platinum V21 & 2015 (through Mindscape Aus) came with bonus IDX Beam Analysis Tool. This included additional Serial Number and Activation Number to unlock this tool.

Hi ,
I too have version 21 Pro Plat and the Beam Analysis Tool did come as a Bonus and I have it installed.  However, my 2015 and 2016 versions Pro Plat does not have the Beam Analysis bonus and I cannot transfer it to these two versions of TurboCad   Does anyone know how to transfer it.  Or should I just keep my copy of  Version 21

Glenn, did the beam analysis bonus come with its own serial number ? (I'm guessing yes), if so go here http://forums.turbocad.com/index.php/topic,18648.0.html and install the version for 2016 (don't think there is one for 2015), your existing serial number should work BUT I've not tried it so can't be certain - it works with other plug-ins.

Hi And H,
Many thanks for your input. The thread you directed me to worked perfectly on the 2016 version. Again many thanks
