Traceparts and Correct Views
Read 2899 times

Hi All

I downloaded a traceparts file of an actuator, see below for info.

Trying to get some perspctive is proving quite difficult, the first opened view is showing a 3D object in World view. At no stage have I been able to view the actuator in a suitable view by changing or
rotating the axis in either 2D world view or 3D in Isometric_SE.

Can someone tell me how to get this right?

Thanks Aussiebloke

It looks to be the Viewport view of the model, not the actual model itself.
When you Select All with the 3D Selector, is there a value in the Size-Z field?

Can you post a link to the download?

(what is all that stuff below your signature?)

Can you post the file? Or a link to the file?

Alvin & Henry thanks.

The file 2503015000003b1a_2120010000268_iso.dwg & 2503015000003b1a_2120010000268_top.dwg (tracepart names not mine) are the problem files, same goes for all other views of the source file.

The file 2503015000003b1a_2120010000268_iso.dwg looks close when viewed in Isometric_SW but thats as close as it gets for me, no amount of axis manipulation ever seems to get the correct view. The  2503015000003b1a_2120010000268_top.dwg looks ok when viewed in World view but that's it, I do realise that it's a 2D view but trying to extrude it phew!

Just so that I'm clear no view ever seems correct, how can you use these files?

Thanks

Don't- go direct to the Linak site and download the SAT 3d model, Sat is the ACIS format, you can also view the full data sheet on there to check dimensions of the part
(assuming this is the correct LA25 model you require)

NOTE - I comes in as a solid part, you can't move individual bits

The "...iso" drawing is actually 2D; there's no way to make it look any better. And you can't just extrude the "...top" drawing and expect to get something that looks real, 'cuz even if you extrude successfully, the object will have a constant cross section: not at all like the real object.

Note, Aussiebloke, that when I open the LA25.sat file that Andy linked us to (my TurboCAD User Interface Style set to "TurboCAD classic") , it opens with a White background, and "Convert foreground colors..." option not active.  So, initially, I don't see anything (because, as I later discover, via next sentence, that all the Objects use a White Pen color).  But doing a Select All (CTRL+A), I can see that there is something there.

I can now either change the Background color to something other than White, activate the "Convert foreground colors..." option, and/or change the colors of all the Objects to something other than White.

Thanks Guys

So if undestand you correctly, the downloaded files are useless for a 3D model?

Thanks

The two that you posted are pretty much useless, but the .SAT file that Andy's link produces is just fine. Here's a screenshot of a Draft render...
