Hi, new to this forum and Turbocad Deluxe. Can't figure out how to draw a line tangent to a circle and perpendicular to a line somewhere outside the circle. Could not figure out in LTE v6 either, which is supposed to run like AutoCAD LT. Any help is appreciated.
Unfortunately, a bug prevents the "Line tangent from arc or curve" tool from doing the job in TCad versions 19, 20, & 21. The following procedure, while a tad less elegant, seems to work in all versions:
Assuming that the circle and the line both lie on the same Workplane, activate the Parallel Line
tool. Click on the existing line, move the cursor to the circle (the circle itself, NOT its center), and press C
on the keyboard. This creates a new line, parallel to the original, passing through the center of the circle. Activate the plain ol' Line
tool, place the cursor near the intersection of the new line and the circle, and press I
on the keyboard. Move the cursor to the original line and press J
on the keyboard. Done. Delete the parallel line if you wish.
