Part tree

Hi,

How do I show part tree fully expanded without having to manually click each + open all the time.

It doesn't seem too let you save a part that was used in the Boolean process separately so you can use it, refer pg below.

I'm trying to save the piece in the green to re-insert in drawing and do a 3d subtract - but when I select it and save it saves the whole  lot (this was originally 3d subtracted but when I updated the location of the main piece the 3d subtract failed to follow it.).

Thanks
Brett

At a guess, you'd have to suppress the subtraction to gain access to the subtrahend, copy and relocate, then unsuppress.

Nope, I checked a part of my own, highlit the feature and checked 'edit content', with the subtraction piece isolated I copied-in-place, checked the 'job done' tick, and had the copy available.

I got it/work around.

I selected the individual piece and copied/moved a set distance. Then when I moved back in main model space the moved piece appeared and I just moved it back the set distance and subtracted.

Still very cumbersome to navigate through tree.

Thks Murray.

Select the PartTree name, then click on the * key on the numeric keyboard. The whole PartTree should expand and remain that way while selected. You will have to repeat this the next time you select the part, but it's better than using the the plus signs.

Thanks John,

Frightening how many clicks that * would have saved me over the last couple of years

regards

It's a "Windows" thing that I learned from Winston years ago. If you go into Windows Explorer (with the "Folders" Navigation Pane open), select a folder that contains sub-folders, then use the star " ✲ " key. Everything will open below that heading/folder name. If you don't like someone, tell them to do that with the "C:\" drive.  ;D

I learned three things in one thread:
How to expand the part tree.
A new word - genuflect and its meaning.
AND NOT TO PUSH THE "*" in Explorer with "C:\" Selected.
I didn't know I had so much crap on my hard drive!
