Before I do anything stupid, will AnimationLAB work with TurboCAD 19 32bit? 64bit? Pro? Platinum?

As far as I can tell, NO.

V19 (64Bit) shows up in the "StartUp Options" for Animation Lab, but there's no palette in TurboCAD. They usually have to put out an update for AniLab each time a new version of TurboCAD comes out. This is probably another tool that also needs to be updated to work in a 64bit environment.

The animation plugin version 5 build 5.0.014 works with the new version 19- 32 bit. Copy the animation (dll) file from the platinum version 18 C :program files (x86)  imsi design>program> palettes folder to the version 19 imsi palettes folder then  when you open the platinum version 19 -32 bit under view menu(depending on Ui) or go to tools>customize>palettes you should see the animation plugin. The animation plugin does not seem to work with the new version 19 64 bit.

I am using Tcad V18.2 platinum and the new Tcad V19 platinum 32 bit and 64 bit trail version

Does anyone knows when will IMSI release a animation lab 5 64 bit upgrade for turbocad 19 pro?  :-\

So taking advantage of the sale on animation lab at this time is not really a good idea?

I don't think you will be penalised by buying now, as any upgrade will probably be at no extra coat, IMHO.

It seems to work just fine in v19 32-bit, so you might be able to get some initial practice in!   8)

A new version 5 was released yesterday with two installation versions.  One for 32 bit and another for 64 bit.   I installed the 64 bit and it works just fine.

As Tim says, I suspect those that already have version 5 will be able to update for free, but I really don't know.   I had version 4.4 so it was a no-brainer to take advantage of the low price.  I'm not sure where the update downloads are or if they are available yet.

I just received AL5.1, installed it. It shows up in 32 bit, but can't find it in 64 bit.

Ken

I am thinking of getting AL, but IMSI site is confusing, on one page it says 32 bit only, and another suggests (in a roundabout way) 64 bit,

So just wondered if you got it from the IMSI site ?, if so thanks for the heads-up I'll not bother buying it.

Thanks - Andy

Andy, yes I bought AL 5.1 at IMSI, I had received an email about a sale about $89, I think. It said it was for 32 and 64 bit systems. But I can't any Icon on the TC 19.1 Plat. 64 bit.  I have both versions on my computer. I thought about giving AL another try, because of the 64 bit capability. (had ver. 4 ? for TC 16).

re: …I can't find any Icon on the TC 19.1 Plat. 64 bit.

Did you select the 64-bit V19 from the "Startup Options" for Animation Lab 5?

The AniLab tool should be at either the "Palettes" page or the main "View" category.

Yes, selected Start up, either Program Files (x86)\... or Program Files\...  32 bit would show up. But today I decided to go to Customize, select "1024x768 Load From" was using "cadcourse19". Now AL isn't showing up in TC 32 bit isn't showing up. Might have uninstall and re-install.

It worked for me, however, I do not have v19 32-bit installed on this machine.  Maybe that might be the source of the problem.  I just installed the 64bit setup file for AL 5 and it was available on the View-AnimationLab palette.  Of course I am using a customized menu carried over from v17.

Maybe you could look to see if the palette shows up in the Options->Toolbars and Menus...->Palette tab

It does however work with v19...  Good Luck

Ken, maybe having TurboCAD 32-bit and 64-bit installed on the same machine is causing a conflict for Animation Lab. I have both 32 & 64 bit TurboCAD's, but installed on separate machines.

Ok, what I will do is have TC 19 32 bit on laptop and the 64 bit on desktop and see what happens. But first I will uninstall AL 5, reinstall to see what happens. Thanks.

Edit:  OK I uninstalled TC 32 bit. And re-installed AL 5. Select AL icon, select Program File\ ... (there's only one selection possible now). Still the AL icon nor "AnimationLab Palette" is showing up. Not showing up under Options...Palette Tab either.

You cannot use the two(32,64bit) Anilab 5.1 at the same time. It’s either 32 bit or 64 bit Anilab 5 installation. If you installed the 32 bit version un-install it then install the 64 bit version. Don’t let the prompt fool you into thinking the Anilab 5.1 64 bit version is installed, do a un-install then a full install and not a repair of Anilab 5.1.You shouldn’t have to un-install turbocad  19- 32 or 64 bit. The Anilab 64 bit version has some bugs so I am using the 32 bit version

There are two installation files for AL5  (one for 32bit and one for 64bit) just like TurboCad V19.  I don't see you mentioning you installed AL5 - 64bit just AL5, is it possible you are using the 32 bit install of AL5?

At last I got AL 5 working. I bought AL5 in 2010 and it said only 32 bit then, I am a bit confused as the various sites refer only to AL 5, no 5.1, 5.2 etc and the "new" features have no time stamp. I remember working in a factory where the "new bay" was built in 1970!

I installed TC 19 Plat 32 and 64 in two different partitions and so far it is looking good.

Update:

Couldn't work with this. Swapping between 32 and 64 required the desktop to be reset everytime. Uninstalled 32 and will think about AnimationLAB problems later.

Ken, do you have a copy of the URL for the 64 bit AL 5 orcould you copy downor forward the email you quote? I have done a lot of animation work and would really like to continue doing so in an integrated system.

How many times will we need to re-purchase new versions of plugins for TC? or even TC itself?
I've been roped into buying upgrades since TC 8, and so far I've paid several grand for a program that's still not worth $300.
Crashes, lockups, lost work, poor to non existent parts management capability, poor backward compatibility, etc.
Now with version 19, UI changes, file compatibility issues, FM and AL not compatible and still poor products (especially FM).

Anyone know of a CAD program that can manage parts? TC sure doesn't.
