Title: material flexure
Post by: Bob on August 17, 2009, 11:45:23 AM
Question:

Is there an adjustment of sorts accounting for components flexing or drooping vs. a ridged member of thick steels?  The thicker stock with a given length stays reasonably straight, however the thinner the material the more it can flex in the “real world” it maybe affected by forces of gravity for instance?

Thanks,

Bob

I think you want the IDX Beam Analysis Tool (http://www.idx-design.com/Products/IDXBeamAnalysisTool/tabid/281/Default.aspx) plug-in.

Try "BeamBoy" - it is free and written by a PhD guy in the USA

IDX is excellent but a bit too expensive.
