Title: Help for new user trying to open dwg & dxf files
Post by: Dez on July 31, 2009, 12:19:59 AM
Hello helpful friends,
I have just downloaded tubocad for the first time. Trial version.
I am trying to open dwg files with Turbocad 2d designer. (version 4.0).

After importing the file, the filename appears at the top of the file but no image. & often the application hangs up.
The fie was under 1 mb & I have 2 gb of ram.

Please can someone suggest somethiing??
thanks Derek

It's likely that V4's translators haven't been developed to translate .dwgs beyond R12 or R13, and the .dwgs you're trying to view are later.  A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.  You'd probably be much better off having a look at DoubleCAD XT, which IMSI/Design offers as a free AutoCAD LT analogue, benefiting from  much more recent translators.
