Title: missing inserts
Post by: Hans J. on November 24, 2019, 11:24:00 AM
Hi
I always use inserts either photos or drawings.I calibrate the drawings so that I can take measurement from them. Sometimes I get an error message saying Turbocat needs to shut down or if  I close the program or shut the computer down and then reopen the drawing the inserts have disappeared leaving only a square outline were the drawing use to be. Although I have embedded the inserts they still disappear.I have even saved the drawings on a Cd with the inserts but they still will note load when I load the drawing from the CD.
This problem is really, really annoying and I wish Turbocad will sort it out once and for all.
Regards Hans

I could not replicate your problem, but I seem to remember it having occurred before.

As closing and re-opening the file doesn't work, the next thing I could suggest is to delete the Built-In folder following the instructions here: http://forums.turbocad.com/index.php/topic,9797.0.html (http://forums.turbocad.com/index.php/topic,9797.0.html).

Can you provide examples of File Types and their respective file sizes of the inserted fIles.

Thank you for all your replays. I now open my drawings as an administrator and this seems to have solved the problem. I have open and closed my drawings several time including switching of my computer. However last night windows did an update on my computer and after the update the computer was restarted. When I restarted Turbocad this morning all my inserts have disappeared again. This is really irritating.

This issue has been reported by quite a few over the years.  Including by me.  I've come to live with it-- accept it; re-Load and move on.  I've gotten to where it occurs less often; but that's probably because I use the feature less often than I used to.

But I wonder-- Would it occur less often if the inserted/embedded (or just "Loaded") Image resides in the same exact Folder/Directory as the TurboCAD drawing.  Maybe a Copy of the Image file, if you don't want to Move it.
Maybe TurboCAD has a better chance at not losing the link.
