Title: Revolve is not created if polyline isn't closed
Post by: Ehtisham Mehmood IMSI on November 07, 2018, 02:24:17 AM
It works if polyline is open. See attached file. Just ACIS modeler cannot create and treat self-intersection object. You can try to create such object if revolve axis has intersection with selected polyline.

Hi.  no file attached.

Could I also add.  As FAQ's are usually for new users, a short explanation of what 'self-intersection' is, may be helpful.

This is what I get from Revolve with a closed and open profile. When the profile is 'closed', the Revolve (aka Spin) is 'solid' (07). When the profile is 'open', the Revolve is hollow (06). Depending on the rotation line, you can make some nice 3D Faces (08).
