Title: In image manager you can only load an object you can't drag it into drawing area

To insert image into drawing use Insert->Picture->From Image List.

You can drag an image into the drawing from the new "Image Manager Palette", provided there is an image present in the list. As you're dragging, you will have to define either its "Width, Height or PPI" first in the Inspector Bar, then place it into the drawing. It uses the center of extents of the image as the placement point.

Otherwise, use the "Insert" option in the previously mentioned "Insert / Picture / From Image List"…
or use "Insert / Picture / From File". These two options use the "upper-left" to "bottom-right" as insertion points.
