Title: Wall Sides inactive
Post by: Draftsman-Don on November 25, 2016, 07:12:47 AM
Hello All, I'm working more and more towards total 3D modeling and I have a situation where the wall sides are not available to add material to. I've compared the settings in this model to all of my other models and I can't figure out what's turned off or anything different about this particular model. It's not just a single wall or two, but every wall in this model so that leads me to believe there is simply a setting that I've switched off that I can't find. Has anyone seen this before?

Very nice drawing, Don.

You can change the material of each component of the wall via the Selection Info palette.

Like Henry, i think it looks to be realy nice.
Hope you post some of it when you are finish.

But there are some issues there, see Attached pic, maybe that is the problem or maybe it is just because i am normally on metric system, for me it seems like at least 3 wall's have crashed.

Thanks Henry,
I changed the properties in the selection info palette but it changed the materials for every wall of that style. Is there some reason that I'm not able to change the sides of each wall? I started with an old plan that I made in AutoCAD and started drawing the walls on top of the original ones. Could that method be the problem?

Walls in that drawing are "Component" walls, which must be treated a bit differently. You can change their Style to "Standard" via Properties>General, which turns them into the traditional kind having only a single component. Thickness, Height, and Wall Sides can then be changed for each wall individually.

You can make a copy of the wall style, change the material in copy and then just change style of singles walls

Thank you all for the help and the kind comments. I have played with all of the options that you've all given. It appears that the easiest way is to do as Torfinn suggested and have a separate style for each different compound wall that will have different exterior materials.
