Try Join Polyline.  Read about it here (http://www3.turbocadcommunity.com/tiki-index.php?page=Join+Polyline).  Pay particular attention to the "AutoJoin" option when reviewing the Wiki article.

Link to the TurboCAD-2015 (ver.-22) On-Line Help Documentation, Join Polyline page, here (https://turbocaddoc.atlassian.net/wiki/display/TC2015UG/Join+Polyline).

Thanks Alvin.
Is there a way that lines can be welded and the end result is a single 2D line?

When you've successfully applied the Join Polyline tool as Alvin explained, the result is by definition a Polyline. It's a single entity. (Doesn't matter if the parts you welded together were collinear or not.)

After you've joined the two lines, activate the "Edit Tool" and select the polyline. Hold the "Ctrl" key and mouseover the middle node. When the cursor turns into a trashcan (http://www3.turbocadcommunity.com/tiki-index.php?page=Deleting+Nodes), click on the node to remove it. "Escape" back to the "Select" tool and the Polyline should now be reported as a Line in the Selection Info palette.

Thanks John.
Works as advertised.

Since you specifically said you wanted to create a single line from collinear lines, you could use the Line length tool to extend one of the existing lines to the far end of the other one, which you then delete.
It doesn't actually join the two lines, but you end up with a single line that is effectively the join of the originals.
