Title: Wayward reference points on 3D library items
Post by: Col the Iron Man on May 06, 2015, 09:46:02 AM
I keep a lot of components in the Library and drag-and-drop when I need them. However, on some of them the reference point (X, Y, Z co-ords) is not with the item dragged but can be some distance away so I have to click the default reference position icon, zoom out and then 'collect' the offending item. I'm not sure why this is, can it be rectified? I've tried to fix this by going into the stored Library file and moving the item to 0, 0, 0, with the reference point at its default and re-saving, but to no avail.

You would have to edit each Library part that does this (in its file, not your new drawing) to re-specify the desired Reference Point.

You could also try exploding the symbol after inserting it into your drawing. I have notice in that same issue with the reference point of a symbol not being anywhere on the symbol, but when it is exploded, the reference point returns to the center of extents for the symbol. See attached.
Ref Point 1 is after inserting symbol from library.
Ref Point 2 is after exploding symbol.
