TC 2019 and Redsdk

Anyone heard anything about RedSDK for 2019, with respect to upgrading, not full product purchase..

When Lightworks was removed and put as a plug-in in 2015, it was a one time purchase. i.e. freely updated to work in 2016 and 2017.    I contacted IMSI 12 days ago as to whether the existing 2018 RedSDK works with 2019, or whether we are expected to pay full price again for RedSK 2019.   But I've heard nowt,  Zilch,  not a dicky-bird

I tried looking on the IMSI site (turbocad.com), but the site is still full of bugs (some links give can't find page error, for me).

When dropped as a built-in render engine a few versions ago, I purchased the RedSDK plug-in.  It was presented to me as a one-time purchase with free updates and that was the case.

It's available for purchase (https://www.turbocad.com/turbocad-windows/plugins/redsdk-plug-in-for-turbocad-2019.html), but if you purchased an earlier version and haven't gotten an update , then contact IMSIDesign.

HI Jeff.   Thanks for the reply.

Re - "A few versions ago".   I assume you mean 'builds' rather than versions, as Red was only dropped last year.    When I purchased Red for 2018, it was not stated anywhere  on the IMSI sites RedSDK page, nor after clicking 'buy'. Whether its one time or per year.

That said.  I admit, I would not have read all the licence agreement when installing it.  Maybe its in there.

Re "contacting IMSi".  I did, they did not reply.

Thanks.

I would have sent an PM to Zunair if i was you Andy, i am patient, but i dont accept to get no answer if it is a important question within a week.
And this one should be pretty easy to answer as well.

I mis-remembered.  I purchased the Lightworks plug-in when it was dropped as a built-in render engine in 2015.  That plug-in was presented to me as a one-time purchase with lifetime upgrades.  I have no information on the service life of a RedSDK plug-in.

I called IMSI and asked this same question. They told me my redsdk plugin will work with 2019 and no need to purchase the plugin again. I have not yet installed 2019 as Ive been swamped with work.

OK.  I got 2019 and the existing RedSDK doesn't work with it,  The only option I get when re-installing RedSDK is for 2018, no other choice.  And 2019 RedSDK does not have a trial version.  So cannot try that with existing serial number.

That and two other things I don't like, (I've only had it a day, so may find more ). And 2019 is not looking good at the moment.

Hhmmm... what is the exact file size of your RedSDK plug-in?  Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit TurboCAD?  I'm curious that you might be trying to mis-match the 32-bit and 64-bit versions with your software.

The 64-bit RedSDK plug-in that I am using is 2,857,328 bytes.  I do not have (and have not seen) a 32-bit version.

I did before I posted.  The link still doesn't work.

Or were you looking elsewhere?

Hi Jeff.   Mine 64 bit is 2,671 KB (32 bit is 2,542 KB).  I have not seen any updates / patches  for RedSDK being posted since I installed it last June.  Unlike the Lightworks plug-in, which got regular updates on the forum.  When I try to install it for 2019, It just comes up with a dialog saying choose program to install it into. and the only option is 2018, even after rebooting the computer to make sure TC 2019 was fully registered on my computer.

I've sent E-mail to support. so I'll wait to see if I get a reply.

OK.  Just got a reply from support.

I asked them whether the 2018 plug-in works with TC 2019, or is there an updated installer like there was with Lightworks, or are we expected to purchase every year.

All the reply said was. (reply copy/pasted)

Hi Andrew,

We have separate plugin for TC 2019.

https://www.turbocad.com/turbocad-windows/plugins/redsdk-plug-in-for-turbocad-2019.html

So. Going off that. they expect you to buy a new plug-in every year. (The link takes one to the buy 2019 page).   Very poor in my opinion.  Do people with the CAM plug-in have to pay every year ?. I know users of AnimationLab don't, and people using the Lightworks plug-in didn't..  (you can probably tell I'm not happy).

We have separate plugin for TC 2019
Andy,

As far as I know the serial number in the TC 2019 has not changed.
Perhaps the web designer forgot to add the "Free Trial" button as Animation Lab Plug-in For TurboCAD 2019.

Mine would not install either. I called, they sent me a 2019 activation code and serial number to my email. Didnt purchase again. I think you will have to call them like I did.

Thanks for the post Kevin.  Since my last post, I contacted support again (via E-mail), and. Well the reply was total nonsense.

I pointed out that Lightworks plug-in users got 3 years out of it.  And I thought the previous reply about my 2018 RedSDK plug-in was not satisfactory. as it just pointed me to buy 2019 RedSDK page. The reply.  Quote "Light-works took the control of their products so it is available as separate plugin now"

Lightworks - a plug-in for 2019.  When did that happen  ???.  and how is such a daft reply supposed to answer my question about getting 2018 RedSDK working in 2019..  (I wrote "daft". rather than having to moderate my own post for swearing).

On a positive note.  Support have certainly mastered the art of 'how to lose customers'.
