rename a layer?

Is it true that I cannot rename a layer?  I've checked the manual, tried all usual  intuitive interface possibilities  including rt clk and choose "rename" or something like that, tried both layer manager and design director, and searched here and online.   What am I missing - it's reasonably basic, no?

If it is not possible to change the name of an existing layer, what would be the workaround?  Perhaps create a new layer with the name I want, copy and paste all i want on it and then delete the unwanted layer?  If so then what would be the best way of selecting all objects on a specific layer besides hunt and click or turn off all other layers....which sounds reasonable but a little bit retro maybe?

Many thanks,
LNB

You can use either the Layers Setup or the Design Director to do that... See attached.

Thanks Greg, well I guess I m a little dense today or have read your post too fast.   I use both of these to make a new layer, change colors, line properties etc.  How do I rename a layer I've already made?  I don't see the obvious...obviously.  Where is the "Rename My Layer" button?
Thanks again.

Edited....Tried it again and it now worked as is intuitive, just double clicking in the name space.  Must have tried that a dozen times before - a matter of timing seems. Thanks for sending me back to the obvious.

In Design Director, select the layer, then use "F2" to access the cell; just like renaming a file in Windows Explorer.

Thank You GregT....You would think that the programmers would have corrected this by 2017 but no.  One should be able to modify the name from the layer manager.

Is "layer manager" the "Layers" page in the "Drawing Setup" dialog? When I click on a layer name, it becomes hi-lighted; then I can rename it.
