.dwl file

Sometimes, but seemingly not always, V17 Platinum creates a small file (around 1K) with a .tcw.dwl extension. What is the purpose of the .tcw.dwl file and would it need to be transferred if I transfer files between my desktop and laptop?

I believe the "DWL" file is for those on a Network. It locks the file and prevents secondary users from saving. They can read, but not save (and change all the work you just did or currently doing). The DWL should go away when when you save and close the file. If you have a leftover, it may be from a crash.

Thought it might be a "process" type file but didn't think of the network angle. Fortunately, nobody on my network but me uses TC anyway so that is not a problem and I guess I can just ignore the .dwl file.

Its so if two instances of TurboCAD open the same drawing you have less of a chance to screw it up.

As far as I know, TurboCAD doesn't "Save" a DWL file, it's just created temporarily while the actual drawing is being used. When you close the actual drawing, the DWL file goes away. The only time that I seen it retained is when TurboCAD crashes.
