Here is a html page with VBScript which will run in the Internet Pallette and which allows a user to browse for files, then plot an oriented symbol based on the data from the text file . This is written for geologists who use oriented "strike and dip" symbols to show the orientation of rock units on a map.
The script places the symbols in a new layer and put all the symbol and its text label into a group (Thx for the help with that Kevan).
To use the file, PlotS&D.txt, you will need to change the extension to PlotS&D.htm and then type in the path to the file into the pallete's URL field--can't just click on it or it will open in a new window. I have also attached a short test file with appropriate data-- x, y, z, strikeorientation, dipmagnitude
