Temporary dimensions: How do I control their display?

Every once in a while, I see these dimensions pop up when I select an object and go away when deselected.

I'd like to make them show up when I want them to.  How do I do that?

Jeff, You have to activate in Selection Info palette->Properties->Object dimensions.

You can control 'how much' is displayed through the Style Manager, "Standard" Dimension Styles.

It looks like they fixed the beneficial BUG where you could go above 10 places. :-(

Hhmmm... I may have had the Selection Info palette open, but I was not clicking on attributes in it when the temporary dimension was displayed.

And what I really want is to show the dimensions of (mostly rectangular) facets on an object.

You seem to have misunderstood my question.  I am looking to have temporary dimensions be displayed on selected objects/facets without having to make, then delete, an actual dimension.  The attached image in my first post shows this happening and I have seen them in AutoCAD demonstration videos on YouTube.

Jeff

The only way I know of to make them appear, is to pick a particular Property row in the Selection Info palette; such as Length, Width or Height for a Box. Pick any other row and nothing will appear. This only works with ‘primitive’ objects. Once the primitive becomes an ACIS Solid, the dimension feature goes away.
