Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could open this file sent to me by a client today. I tried opening it in Autodesk and there was an error there too saying there were issues with the shape files. It deleted the problematic shape files and let me view the file which is a topographic survey. If any of you can open this in TurboCAD I'd be grateful if you could re-save it and send it back to me.

All the best

Here you go, saved in TurboCAD version 20.

You can design without engineering, but you cannot engineer without design.
Using Win 10 with Designer 2017 and TurboCAD Pro. Plat. 2016/2017/2018 + Lightworks (64-bit versions) + AnimationLab.

Hi Tim,

Thanks so much for that! You're a star.

Might I ask how you managed to open it where I failed?

All the best

Glad to help.

I opened it in TurboCAD 2016 with no problems.
I just saved it as a TurboCAD file for version 20.

Simple as that!   ;)

Hi again Tim,

I have another file sent to me today that I'm struggling to open with Turbocad 20. This is quite odd and I'm wondering whether I should upgrade my version of TurboCAD. Which version of 2016 do you use? Is it Deluxe or higher?

Trying not to push my luck, is there any chance you could see if your version can open this one too?

All the best

Phil,

I opened your original file in TurboCAD Pro. 2016.

Your second file failed to open in this version of TurboCAD.  Strange.

However, it did open in TurboCAD Pro. 2018.
Again, I have saved it back to version 20.

As to whether you should upgrade; I would say yes.

Regards Tim

The dwg is a AC1027 = Autocad 2013, but it seems like it is made in Autocad LT v 2016 and saved back to 2013 Version.
So if you have the latest update of TC it should be possible to open it in TC v 20 as i think that was in 2013.
Anyway, always a good ide'a to Upgrade your Version of TC to a newer one.
BTW v 20 to v 2018 is the last Upgrade before it start to be expencive, so worth thinking on before v 2019 come out.;);)
