Status Bar Error after Launch
Read 923 times

TurboCAD Expert 2018 Build 49 Win10x64 1809

Referring to the attached screenshots. I have recently updated Expert 2018 to the latest patch and have found the Status Bar no longer functions correctly. When TC first launches and offers the Startup Dialogue I can see the status bar in the background is correctly drawn.

After loading a file or closing the startup dialogue the status bar is rendered as only checked boxes and also no longer offers tool tips.

I've earlier 2017 versions of TC installed and these operate correctly.

Hi,

After some advice from the UK forum, I have found that the problem only exists with the 64-bit version of TC 2018, the problem is not present in the 32-bit(x86) version of TC Expert 2018. It seems it is a bug in the 64-bit version.

I've seen this in the past, but can't remember the cause. My guess would be to update the video driver.

I looked at my copy of TurboCAD 2018 Expert (Win10) and don't have this problem in either GDI or RedSDK (Options / Native Draw).

Thanks for the reply, I've tried a few variants of the Radeon HD driver but nothing resolved the problem. FWIW, I have this problem on two machines, an i7 Dell XPS desktop with AMD HD 6770, and a Dell 7000 series laptop with dual video cards, Integrated Intel and a discrete Nvidia card. Some of the drivers that I tested left me with only GDI as the Native Draw option in the 2017 TurboCAD and the problem persists in 2018 version, so it doesn't seem like GDI or RedSDK is the issue. Because I have the dual cards on the laptop I've been able to test lots of hardware options and nothing has worked. I'm sure it will have a common cause if I can find it, perhaps it's related to Win 10 Update 1809.

Interesting I don't have RedSDK in Expert 2018, only GDI, but I do have RedSDK in the Expert 2017 version.

My motivation to get this all working again is to upgrade to Pro Platinum, but I don't want to commit to that if I also need new hardware. But it seems odd Expert 2017 works with RedSDK and Expert 2018 will only use GDI yet has these workspace issues.

FWIW, I have also tested with and without OpenGL Hardware Acceleration enabled.

TurboCAD used to come with RedSDK installed, but in 2018 the Company parted ways with Redway3D. RedSDK is now available as a Plugin

Thanks John, I'll contact IMSI support and see if I can get a trial of the RedSDK plugin, but I have to keep in mind I only have the problem on the TC Expert 2018 x64 version.

I have opened a case before reading this thread.

There is a workaround for Windows 10 1809, find the TurboCAD exe and change the compatibility mode to Windows 8, the status bar will work, but this is not a fix.

I found the status bar glitch didn't fixed in TC2019. I need to turn on Windows 8 compatibility for tcw26.exe to get rid of the issue.

I am curious if TC developers all using Windows 7/8 only?  ::)

Unlikely.  TurboCAD 2019 was changed to Compatibility Mode in my Windows 7 Pro system on one of the startups (but not the first few).

The status bar glitch is deal-breaker to me, until the software is "native" designed for latest Windows 10, not run in compatibility mode.

Are you using Windows 10 64-bit 1809?

I know no problem with Windows 10 1803 or earlier, but problem with 1809.

It dont need to be TC, as this issue is only on some pc's with win pro 10, and because it's only on a few, the issue is most likely at your spesific machine and not even win 10 pro's fault eigther ;);)

But three Win10 1809 have this problem. Actually I filed a support request for TC2018 about the same status bar issue but did not get update yet. I hope TC2019 will fixed that and pay for the upgrade, unfortunately that issue slip through new release.

3 of how many ?? :)
Or maybe there is only 3 with win 10 pro that use TC.
It's to easy to just blaim TC for it IMO, sometimes there are other reasons also is what i try to say.
IMSI know about it, but they have not figured out what make it happen yet, so guess maybe that's why you have not get reply yet, i dont know.
