Fails to Simple Extrude
Read 150 times

In the attached drawing, I am unable to Extrude (Simple or Twisted) as a solid object the two larger objects (they extrude as hollow).

I have repeatedly selected all the segments and used Format / Place on Workplane, to no avail.

I have zoomed in to see if there are any noticeable gaps, again to no avail.

The larger object on the left extrudes hollow, while the larger object on the right will not allow every segment to be selected, so it extrudes as an ACIS Surface.

I'd appreciate an explanation of what I am failing to do to correct this.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Hi Jeff.   First, its not a good idea to check for connection when there is a line thickness, the thickness masks some alignment errors.

I changed the line thickness to '0', and found 3 problem areas. I use chain polyline to detect if lines / arcs match up.  There is one problem with the left C, and two with the right C.   see attached 'gaps1' for the three areas.  Once these are repaired they extrude fine.

Thanks for the tutorial.  I will remember that in the future.
