TC 2018 will not launch
Read 142 times

Hello all. Win 7 TC 2018. The install went as expected, but the program will not launch. I turned off my anti-virus and ran the install as administrator and tried to launch TC 2018 as administrator still no luck. What is most unusual is that TC 2017 will not launch either and it was working at one time. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

After the install and you try to open v 2018 first time and as Admin, have you seen if there is something in the background that are waiting for you, like enter the activation code, Select drawing or similar ??, it can be hidden behind other open programs or something.

Hi Torfinn.
Thank you for your response!
No, I tried to open it the first time without the administrator permissions. I was away from this computer for an hour or so and when I came back there was a message to have me select the style. I selected classic and now there is a "seerver busy" warning asking me to switch to the busy program. Selecting the "switch to" does nothing, it just sits there.

Thanks again!

Then that is the issue, maybe there are some problem with the server/ net connection, i assume it will check the Serial someplace before it let you go further on.
Have you try'd to just close it and make sure you have net Connection before try again, and this time as admin, and it dont need to be in your place, so maybe at a later time/ next day.
Or maybe just close and start you pc again ( not restart )

Thanks again! I uninstalled TC 2018 and re-installed it shutting down at each step and using run as administrator. No luck at all. I'll have to get in touch with IMSI support.

Yeah, i think that is next step, but a last Q, do you have some kind of local network running on your machine ??

Hi Torfinn, No it's not a local network. Indeed it is connected to a network but there are no issues with connectivity. Thanks again for your help!!

I had the same problem with V15 a few years back.  It was very puzzling as it had been working up until just a few months earlier.  I could not solve it, so I built a new system and upgraded to V21.

You might try deleting the Built-In folder and then trying to start TC again.

I was thinking about if you have a local network, then maybe you have to "tell" it that TC is a trusted program, and if your security rules is to high you maybe need to do the same with Windows ??

I think what Torfinn meant to ask was if you started TurboCAD remotely over a network.  Your saying that there is a network probably didn't help him (English is not his native language).

No, i was talking about a small private network in your home/ place, between different machines, but still everything is inside the same home/ place, maybe network is not the correct word for it, i dont know :), but directly translated it is that name.
The pc is connected to that network, but TC run only from/ on 1 machine, else there has to be a sort of network edition of TC for making TC to run i assume.

did you try going into the task manager and ending tc  welcome splash test and tc turbocad dbautosrv. (or something like that). It doesn't effect the program and \ find if I end those 2 Tc suddenly starts.

Yeah Nikki is correct, i totally forgot those 2 files

Just try to remove/ move them to a folder outside TC before start TC again, and also i think to remember that John just add   .old   on the end of filenames.
Maybe you will have luck with that.

C:\Program Files\IMSIDesign\TCW2018\Program64
dbautosrvwrapper.exe

C:\Program Files\IMSIDesign\TCW2018\Program64\TcTools
TCWelcomeSplashTest.exe
