Thinking of purchasing 32" monitor is 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution sufficient or should I get 2560 x 1440

I think you will be disappointed with 1920 x 1080 on a 32" monitor.

Until last summer, I had 1920 x 1080 on a 24" monitor and it was adequate (until the 10+ year old monitor stopped working).  I got a Samsung 32" monitor with 2560 x 1440 and the default text/icon size is almost exactly the same, except that I have ~78% more screen area.

But verify that your video card can handle the resolution.
