17th Century Ship Cannon

My first post of a drawing !
After learning enough of 3D to even feel close to being comfortable in posting anything I have done, this is my 3D 17th Century Ship Cannon.  I guess I have about 10 hours into it. The cannon was taken from some actual 2D dimensions.  It has 19 layers.

Materials is my weakness.  I wanted to have a wooden wrap, and have red paint on the wood, but with some grain showing. Kind of like a red stain.

Donnie

I want to thank Don Cheke as his tutorials help me get this far.

Nice work one the model,  as for materials, its like anything in TC, practice.  For red painted wood if using RedSDK, grab a jpg of a wood texture, use a paint program to change the colour hue towards red, alter tone etc. altering the hue should retain the grain pattern, then save as a new image. Use the new image as a texture  to be applied to the wood.
