17th Century Ship Cannon

My first post of a drawing !
After learning enough of 3D to even feel close to being comfortable in posting anything I have done, this is my 3D 17th Century Ship Cannon.  I guess I have about 10 hours into it. The cannon was taken from some actual 2D dimensions.  It has 19 layers.

Materials is my weakness.  I wanted to have a wooden wrap, and have red paint on the wood, but with some grain showing. Kind of like a red stain.

Nice work one the model,  as for materials, its like anything in TC, practice.  For red painted wood if using RedSDK, grab a jpg of a wood texture, use a paint program to change the colour hue towards red, alter tone etc. altering the hue should retain the grain pattern, then save as a new image. Use the new image as a texture  to be applied to the wood.
