TC16Pro blows up w/mouse click

Something is seriously askew with either my installation, the registry, or the attached "TC MINIMAL 3D Tower Locator N-S Axis.tcw" file. If I double-click the attached file, I get the attached warning.

Even if I start TC16 and then load the attached file, TurboCAD instantly stops running if I click the mouse in the work area. The second attached file [100SPxT1B1M1xE (1).tcw] works just fine. Screwy thing is the problem file was working just fine a couple of days ago.

Thanks,

Bob

I'd say that there is issue with the file.  My version-20 also stuggles with opening it and working with it.  Perhaps issues with all the Groups and Groups within Groups, Part Tree Objects within Groups, etc.
Maybe try saving it as another name, e.g.:  ".... No Tower".  Delete the whole Tower Object.  Save.  Re-open and see how it behaves.

I think it's that tower Group of Graphics that might be the issue.

I agree with Alvin on the antenna mast. Each of those mast units could be a Block, without all the unneeded 2D stuff & PartTree info that's in each one. Better yet, place the mast in a separate file, then bring that file in as an External Reference.

Yes, I can see why any version of TurboCAD would be struggling!

Your tower is made up of groups of groups of graphics et cetera.
I exploded this three or four times to get down to the separate elements, without the part tree stuff.
It then loads more quickly and reliably.

I would do as John suggests, but add, that the tower could be simplified to fewer elements, which would make life easier, for any CAD program.

It is also worth mentioning, that version 16, will only access < 2 GB of RAM.

I hope this helps.

You can design without engineering, but you cannot engineer without design.
Using Win 10 with Designer 2017 and TurboCAD Pro. Plat. 2016/2017 + Lightworks (64-bit versions).

Well that explains the out of memory error I frequently get. I figured it was a program limitation 'cuz I've got 24GB of RAM. Would prefer not to upgrade, but perhaps it's time.

Bob,

I believe TurboCAD versions 19 onwards were available as 32-bit or 64-bit.
So, that might well be what you're looking for?

Probably, but $1,000 to upgrade from 16 to 20 seems grossly overpriced.
