A few basic material settings for you to try out for RedSDK

A bit of talk about RedSDK Materials for setting the IOR/Reflection/Glossiness from the Sheen Calculator I thought I would share them for you to test/try out in your renders.
Basically this is mimicking the roughness that occurs in reality.

RedSDK currently does not take into account the rougher (more matt) a material is using the Glossiness factor so the IOR and Reflection values need to adjust according.
Light behaves better without the burning/glowing of white materials etc. Fresnel ticked (on)!

RedSDK - IOR Curve for Glossiness (BRDF) Plotting:

Matt Emulsion walls:
Sheen Level of 2% (Flat) which covers many emulsion paints available.
IOR = 9.326
Fresnel = ticked (on)
Reflection RGB = 20,20,20 (grey)
Glossiness (BRDF Reflection Value U and V) = 0.9628

Carpets:
Sheen Level of 1% (Flat)
IOR = 9.872
Fresnel = ticked (on)
Reflection RGB = 18,18,18 (grey)
Glossiness (BRDF Reflection Value U and V) = 0.9849

Furniture Eggshell Paints:
Sheen Level of 40% (Eggshell)
IOR = 1.827
Fresnel = ticked (on)
Reflection RGB = 118,118,118 (grey)
Glossiness (BRDF Reflection Value U and V) = 0.3089

Furniture Satin Paints, Lacquers and plastics:
Sheen Level of 65% (Semi Gloss)
IOR = 1.689
Fresnel = ticked (on)
Reflection RGB = 182,182,182 (grey)
Glossiness (BRDF Reflection Value U and V) = 0.0761

Shiny Ceramics:
Sheen Level of 80% (Gloss)
IOR = 1.739
Fresnel = ticked (on)
Reflection RGB = 221,221,221 (grey)
Glossiness (BRDF Reflection Value U and V) = 0.0117

To Be Continued.....

Daz, where are you finding the Glossiness factor?

Henry,
It's the BRDF reflection value.
Daz should show it as it's in TC  ;D

Sorry about that Henry... the other program I use calls it Glossiness but have updated it with TC's/RedSDK name for it... Thanks Dean  :D..:

I will do....

I will put together a drawing (ePack) that is simple both in lighting with a few example materials for us to test and critique.

Darrel,

    stunning work, which shows what can be achieved.
    So, what happened to the bottle of wine?  ;D

You can design without engineering, but you cannot engineer without design.
Using Win 10 with Designer 2017 and TurboCAD Pro. Plat. 2016/2017/2018 + Lightworks (64-bit versions).

Thanks Tim..

Haha... the bottle of wine, forgot about that one.... Going to put that on one of the shelves in that drawing...  ;D

Going to use this one and put a selection of materials on the shelving at the back I think, Epack it up... and do a larger render of it..  :)

Thanks for this useful information.  The few times I have looked into RedSDK materials elsewhere, I have gotten bogged down, but this is far more accessible.

Hi Jeff...

Yeah it makes more sense using something we can relate to in the real world... ;)

Really looking forward to this.   ;D

Found some of it in another thread (http://forums.turbocad.com/index.php/topic,22523.0.html).
