I'm sure I still have a pair of these trimming scissors somewhere.
I used them regularly to trim the flat wicks in my old gaff cutter, sailing yacht.
Using 8 inch circular mirrors, behind each lamp, as an aid to reflecting light into the cabin, worked very well.
More than enough for reading by.
They are essentially like normal scissors, but one blade is wider, to accommodate a outer curved edge, acting as a scoop to collect the clippings.
You obviously don't want anything dropping where it shouldn't!
