These three were, as usual, 3D printed in wax and packed in sand before molten brass was added in a traditional cast pour, followed by hand polishing. The first two models had to have the cross-section increased by 10% for proper printing, even though they were already some 11% larger than the specified minimum width. Go figure.
The polishing looks better than previous earrings I have made at Shapeways; I guess they are refining their technique.
I'm including renderings of the designs for comparison.
I do not claim any particular skill as an artist. I pretty much just availed myself of TurboCAD's functionality.
#12 was originally a Rail Sweep of a rectangle along with Pattern on Polyline for the ellipsoidal solid, but I had to Explode a few times and re-position the ellipsoidal solids for an aesthetically-pleasing result.
#13 was done with a Rail Sweep of a rectangle with a Twist of (IIRC) 2800°, plus a properly-sized Sphere at the end to minimize hair grabbing.
#14 combined a Rail Sweep of a Filleted Rectangle (producing the donut shape) that was used for a Pattern on Polyline. The variables were adjusted so the the donuts overlapped, providing all the structural support.
Keep in mind that my girlfriend prefers teardrop-shaped earrings, so I am working within that guideline.
