Camera not supported by REDSDK mode
Read 649 times
* November 19, 2017, 10:44:08 AM
Hi Everyone,

I recently upgraded from TC2015 to TC2017 and encountered an issue that I cannot solve.
When I create a camera and insert it in a drawing and want to see the view of that camera in another Window (two tiles next to eachother) than the window that is supposed to show the camera view is stating "RedSDK mode isn't supported by this window"
(see enclosed screendump).
I can work around it by working in openGL or Lightworks but it is a bit of a hazzle and I did not have this in TC2015
Does anyone encountered the same issue and did you find a solution?

Thanks,
Ralf

The good news is that multiple windows (wireframe of otherwise), works OK in RedSDK 2017.

Bad news you need to check what's different with your system or TC setup,  as a start you could follow John's posts in this thread (thread title doesn't matter) to see what he did to solve it and see if it works for you.

Thanks Andy,

I will start this puzzle and post the result of my quest in both threads  :).
I will start with the Nvidia settings

I get the same problem now in 2017 Platinum, Build 62.2. My fix from before didn't have any effect.

I can't open earlier drawings and apply a Window Layout, as all the other windows are not supported in RedSDK. A new drawing will work with a Window Layout. The only way I can use multiple windows of the same drawing is to switch to GDI; the usual cure for RedSDK problems.

Hi John,

What did you try to fix it up to this point?

Thanks in advance,

I had this problem yesterday and had to switch to GDI. It is just one thing after another with RedEdsel.

Should we mention this to someone at IMSI design or will it they see this thread too?

Someone should mention it.     Support may read the occasional thread, but I doubt they read everything.

It may be some conflict as I don't seem to suffer the same problem, possibly because although I'm using Nvidia drivers, I don't appear to be running the PhysX, and I'm definitely not running Nvidia 3D experience (which I uninstalled long ago as it messed up my Desktop).

The attached was drawn in v2016 RedSDK, opened in v2017 build 62.2 RedSDK, saved and re-opened, I manually place the windows as the open layout template messes with the camera position.

## Edit ## it would be interesting to see if people using a Radeon card suffer the same problem, ## End Edit ##

It's been reported in the Beta board.

FYI
I installed TC on another PC to see if this would effect the issue and..... It actually did.

No issue at all with opening more then one window whatsoever.

Now I just need to figure out what the differences are between both PC's setting wise.....

I need to run it on my own PC so I must find the issue :-\ :-\

I believe the problem is in the Native Draw "Hardware" setting. When it is 0 or 1x, I can get multiple windows. If "Hardware" is 2x or higher, multiple windows are not available. I normally have hardware set to 4x and don't have this problem in TurboCAD 2016 or earlier.

I have responded to your support ticket, Ralf.

If switching to GDI mode resolves the issue, I strongly believe that it's something to do with Redsdk. Lightworks seem to resolve such issues.

I have also forwarded this issue to QA team. Let's see what do they respond.

Thanks Khadija,

Meanwhile I have tried to switch to GDI and the issue is then gone.
Also I have done the following:

I opened a new file in TC 2017 (not in GDI but in RedSDK)
I then opened the file that gave me the issue
I copied the content of that file into the new file that I opened as first.

The result is that the issue is gone too.

I hope this helps solving the issue

Per Don Cheke's "Bearing Box" tutorial video that he recently posted and I just started watching:

In Program Setup➠Native Draw➠RedSDK➠Anti-Aliasing➠Hardware (here, about 11;00 minutes in), if that value is set to anything over "2", we will experience what you reported here experiencing.

Hi Ralf,

Thank you very much for your feedback.
Please try to avoid: remove a few files from 'Palettes' directory. As shown in the picture.

Hi VLad,

Thanks for the advice. I have acted accordingly and I am now able to have more windows open with an anti aliasing setting of 4x or more.

Thanks,
Ralf

Ralf,

I apologize for the inconvenience.
The problem will be fixed in the next patch. Now, if you do not use Geo marker palettes, then you can delete specified files.

It is possible that my 'little' English is no worse than your 'crooked' English
but I'm sure that the language of bugs, features and avoids, is a universal language in this galaxy.

Vlad, you have used the term "avoid" or "avoids" in a few posts recently.   I can't decipher from the context what you are meaning with that use.  Can you please expound and clarify what it is you are meaning when using the term "avoid" as in the context quoted above.

Thanks, Alvin

Your English is actually quite good.

But it seems to me that there is a contradiction in your words :)

Avoid(s)  i.e. mean something like work around(s). This is jargon.
The process of fixing bugs and releasing updates is very leisurely, but the business can not wait. The solution is necessary here and now. Need a term that means an immediate solution to the problem. It can be: advice, quick fix, tool, work around etc.. anything that will help to continue work.
