Constant crashing :(

Hello,
I am having issues with TurboCad Deluxe 2d/3d 2017 with it crashing??
There does not seem to be a reason, it happens all the time and not for the same reasons.
I was working on a very large 3d drawing and i changed the material and it crashed!! I was working on a very small 2d drawing I tried to change the length of a line and it crashed!!!
I get the same message each time (See attached) and I always fill out the "Crash report" but I have never had a reply??
Does anyone else have this happen to them? and if so how do you work around it??

Hey James look at the Locks up on Rendering from the Problems page for tips to investigate. Hope that helps.
FWIW I had many issues over time with tcw, but now it runs flawlessly.

I agree with Daz to check your system.  2017 rarely crashes on me (it is significantly more stable than 2016).

Look here for the things to check: http://forums.turbocad.com/index.php/topic,21898.msg131043.html#msg131043

Sometime back when I had an exception I started looking into what and why and I remember finding the folder that stored the exception crash info, further that tcw appeared to save a backup that was most likely in another folder. So Im not at my pc now atm but if ya can dig up the backup file and rename the files extension. Then post that file over here for us to look at.

Further if you search my post from around a month ago my tcw 2017 was fixed by installing the 32bit version of 2017 platinum, Im just wondering if there is a common thread here with Turbocad looking for a specific folder thats not in the path statement.

Im talking about %path%. Typing info in a tiny screen is tough, I will follow up once I return to my desk.

In explorer got to C:\'user'\Searches\Indexed Locations and try to find a backup of the most recent file that crashes, then find from TurboCAD info ( not quite sure here ) how to convert to a tcw file ( it may be just to save the file and then rename the extension back to tcw).

Retest for problems, then repost to the site your findings.

Hello,
Ok, there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for this to happen. I opened a brand new file and started to draw a line and it Crashed giving me the same message as below, An error....blah blah. Later I had been working on a small 3D drawing for a few hours (Saving as I go :)) and it happened again. Grrrrr!
In fact I just opened the program and then closed it (Without doing anything else) and I got the message!!!!

I've looked for the location of the "Crash files" but cannot find them? Would these be typically called anything in particular, something I could search for??

I checked for updates and found there to be one but when I try and install it asks me for a disc?? (I do have the back-up disc but that didn't work) see attached screen shot.
What do I do???

James B

Search on *.bak

Post your system info?

Run explorer ( right click and select Adminstrator mode 1st then ), then find do the following:

( read the IMSI Readme.rtf file, this file is stored in the 1st folder where deluxe is installed )

Built-In Folder
In some circumstances, the configuration INI files may become corrupted causing loss of tools or functionality, and no amount of customizing will restore them. To fix this problem, the standard procedure is to force TurboCAD to reconstruct the 'Built-in' folder by renaming it.  This will restore most TurboCAD settings to those found in a brand new installation.

WARNING: It is best to do this only after consulting with IMSI/Design Technical Support.

1] First, SAVE the current menu configuration (see Managing Menus, above), and EXIT TurboCAD completely.

2] Navigate to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\IMSIDesign\TurboCAD 2017\Professional x64

Or C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\IMSIDesign\TurboCAD 2017\Professional

The AppData folder is hidden, so a quick way to get to it is to hold down the 'Windows Logo' key on the keyboard (between Ctrl and Alt) and hit 'R' to bring up the Run dialog.
Type:  %APPDATA%  (percent signs included) and press Enter.

3] Right-click on the 'Built-in' folder and select Rename from the local menu. Type a different name (like Built-out) and press Enter.

4] Restart the TurboCAD.

Typical place for crash files are in C:\Users\your username\Documents\TurboCAD 2017 Deluxe x64\AutoSave, in the bottom click on all files, then you will find the .asv and .crush files there, sort by date and you will see what is closest to the time for crash.
When in Autosave og 1 folder back and you will find the Backup folder.

Also very important if you crash, always go in to the folder where you did save the file before crash and look for .dwl, select and delete them all, if the drawing is open you cant select that dwl so do this everytime before restart TC again.

If that not help, delete Built-in or do Repair

If there is an update , download it from here in this Forum( Updates and Patches ), uninstall and re install with that file ( Full Version ), you will need to have the serialnumber ready when instal again, if  it was an Upgrade you will need serial for the old one also.

James some but not all tcw users do not use the autosave feature, its a personal preference. Turn it off and see how it goes from then on. We will solve your problems. Keep sending screen grabs of anything pertinent to your system.
