Expert vs deluxe?

Hi, Michael here. I have a simple question. I started getting into turbocad and bought the deluxe version 2017. I’m into architectural drawing and like designing houses and such. but my biggest set back is the VERY LIMITED, abilities of tc deluxe and I was wondering if upgrading to expert would help me out,  I.e. architectural tools mainly and being able to create my custom doors and windows etc.. does the Expert version have the full functionality of the architectural tools? I want to be able to add a foundation or slab, edit my roofs, have a wider range than a standard door and window via creating my own specifications, and stairs and such!? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
Michael.

As far as Windows and Doors go, there is no change. Expert only has 2 Window Types (Picture, Awning Transom) and 2 Door Types (Single, Double-Dhung); no "Shapes".

You do get…
  • the 4 "Roof Slab" tools,
  • the 2 "Opening" tools,
  • the 4 "Slab" tools,
  • the 4 "Terrain" tools.
You can use the "Opening" tools to insert a custom made door or window Block into a wall or roof/roof slab to make up for the lack of normal Window and Door Types and Shapes.

Thank you for you’re insight John. I watched don cheeke video when he was “changing properties” of standard doors and windows, and if I can do that then I’ll be ok and one other thing, does expert have the profile styles and the full function of style manager?
Thanks, Michael.

Expert does not have "Profile Styles". Attached shows what ‘Styles’ are available in Deluxe, Expert and Platinum.

What video were you watching? Most likely he was using the Platinum Edition that has all the "bells-n-whistles".

Yeah that sucks.. it’s the 2 story house tutorial, and yes he is using pro platinum. which is way too far out of my budget. In a few of the videos, he customized his own doors and windows but if I can’t do that in expert then I’ll just have to settle with what I have. Thank you John,
Michael.

does turbocad lte pro still exist?
The comparison chart shows that all the architectural tools are available on that.

I’m not sure I would say it’s an outdated version and hard to come by. I wanna do more it’s just a lot without spending the cash to have the “perks”. Which is a shame as I feel less encouraged to continue until I can actually produce reasonable results.

I looked at my old copy of "LTE Pro V7" and it has most of the Architectural options available in Platinum (all the "Types" & "Shapes", etc). The big drawback in my opinion for LTE Pro is the lack of a decent Rendering ability. You get a "Conceptual" render (i.e. basic OpenGL). Pen colors only for a whole object, no materials. You can't show glass in a window. I doubt if TurboCAD LTE Pro V9 is any different. I'm surprised that since they made LightWorks a "plug-in", they didn't make one for LTE Pro.

I got hit with this new and stupid Captcha garbage that makes 'previewing' a post a real pain in the ass. There's got to be a better way than this piece of crap.

I am only seeing the Captcha when I use Quote instead of Reply.  At first, the Captcha wouldn't forward me to a completed message, but that has been fixed.  Just to be safe, I Select All of my message and Copy so I don't lose anything.

Doing that also lets me back up to before I hit Quote and instead hit Reply, at which point I Paste and then I don't get the Captcha screen when I preview or post.

Thank you guys for you’re reply’s. I’m just trying to find a way to make it work is all. If I have to grind it out in deluxe for now then so be it!

Although Deluxe does not provide a usable selection of already-drawn windows and doors, it does allow you to create your own.

Yes, bare with me here I’m still learning, I found the video on adding an opening into a wall. I’m designing a simple 2 story design to start off with and learning piece by piece as I go. I find little issues like my 3d slice tool kept slicing my bottom plate at an angle, but I’ve found little ways around them quirks.
