Some Hot Keys not working

Something happened to my computer last night and I have been unable to fix it (haven't tried a system restore, yet, but I'm hoping to avoid that because it's been a month or so and I forget which desired changes I've made).  It's not just in TurboCAD, but it is affecting things here, too.

Function Keys <F6> and <F7> do not work for selecting objects.  In Windows itself, the Alt-<F4> hot key doesn't close the active window.  The <Alt> key works fine (i.e., <Alt> F), so it's not a keyboard problem.

Other hot keys work just fine (Ctrl-N and Ctrl-T, for example).

I have explored various technical pages (changing things in service.msc didn't work; neither did rebooting or changing the USB port for my keyboard).

This is most likely not caused by TurboCAD (as I have the problem even when it's closed), but it affects TurboCAD, so I'm hoping that this is something someone else has encountered and fixed.

I have Windows 7 Pro.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

The first thing I usually do when hotkeys stop working is to reload my custom Workspace. That normally clears up that kind of problem.

In light of the recent discussion concerning the TurboCAD LTE UI, are you using the "LTE workspace" style? "F7" in LTE turns the Grid on/off (it's an AutoCAD thing) and there isn't any replacement hotkey to select the next object and work backwards.

Jeff, do any of the function keys work? I ask because all of mine quit working once upon a time and I finally discovered that there's another key which enables/disables all of them.

The Ctrl Hot Keys all seem to work (Ctrl-N, Ctrl-O, Ctrl-T, Ctrl-K, etc.), but the Function Keys do not work (well, if any do, I haven't found them), either inside TurboCAD or in other programs.  <F1> doesn't bring up Help.  <F2> will not summon the Rename popup in other programs.  <F3> doesn't switch to the Design Director.

This is a system-wide problem.  I was just hoping that someone here had a fix, because the various help pages I've found on the Internet do not actually help.

I fixed the problem.

Henry's remark was the one to get me on the right track.  I had accidentally pressed the <F> LOCK key (next to <F12> on my Microsoft keyboard).  <F12> toggles Paint mode in Irfanview, which I use to annotate images.

So... I'm back to my normal operation.

Thanks, Henry.

The only problem shortcut key I have problems with is the escape key not working and very often, I have to restart lappy or use the right click cancel route  ::)

The <Esc> key doesn't exit rendering functions.

Elsewhere, I find I have to alternate between tapping the <Esc> key and the <Space> bar to exit a function.

The Escape key has always been a problem during a render. It may work some of the time, but most times you have to try other options to stop it or just w-a-i-t.

Ive never been able to use escape key to exit a render with 2016. Old versions it worked ok. My problem is when I use the rubberstamp tool it wont exit the tool with the esc key but sometimes it does. buggy do buggy dont  ;D
