How to attach 2d object/picture onto a 3d object

Hi again,
I was wondering how it is possible to attach a 2d object/text/picture onto a 3d object so that the 2d object follows the curvature of the 3d object.
For instance, see attached pic.

Thanks.

For this object, if using Lightworks rendering, the usual procedure is to create a new Material using the "Cylindrical" Wrapping mode. Don't know how to do it with Redsdk rendering.

In RedSDK nearly everything is an image, so applying an image (called a texture in the material editor) isn't a problem, however, it depends on the image as to how good it is on spheres and cylinders as sometimes it can result in a 'seam' being visible.

One can also use the UV Mapping tools if available in your version (pro platinum not pro basic) for both RedSDK and Lightworks, which works quite well, the attached was mapped using RedSDK 2016 platinum, though I'm only  a novice when it comes to UV.

So there is no easy way to wrap simple text around cylinder?

Not as standard text,  there are quite a few ways to bend it into place once its been changed 3d,  here are some of them, http://www3.turbocadcommunity.com/tiki-index.php?page=Beginners guide to 3D text&pagenum=5#Curved_Text and
Don's Cheke has a tip page tip page http://www.textualcreations.ca/TurboCAD%20Tips/TurboCAD%20Tip%205.pdf

There is also the text along curve tool in the add-on or sdk menu, which works on normal 2d text but that tool bends the text vertically not horizontally, The graphic on path tool probably won't space the text correctly (and would still requires manual alteration).

Thanks. It is advanced stuff for me now but I hope I'll be able to reproduce it in the near future  8)
