Importing light works materials in TurboCad 2017
Read 439 times

I'm getting an error msg when importing material into lightworks in TurboCad 2017.
I can load the material into lightworks, but when I go to render an object with this new material, I get an error msg saying , render could not be completed because there are no RedSDK attributes for this material.
I have my setting set for using lightworks, & I have also imported this material into RedSDK as well , to no avail. Not sure what I'm doing wrong,

Yes its definatley the lightworks plugin for TurboCad 2017,
It has loaded, i'm getting the option in the materials palette to edit either in lightworks or RedSDK, which all seems to work fine within the editing window, its only when going to render an object, that Lightworks isn't doing anything..
Whatever editing selections i make in Lightworks, they aren't taking effect on the object, ( I just get the error msg about no RedSDK attributes for the selected material ), but when I make the same editing selections in RedSDK, the object changes accordingly.

I can't really help as I don't have Lightworks, sorry if you have already checked this but its the mort obvious thing I can think of,

I wondered what is showing up when you right click the render teacup, selecting quality on the left it should then show on the right Render type - Lightworks, and under that raytrace or full etc.

If you can load the LW material, select them and use one on a object in your drawing, the teacup tell it should render in LW like Andy explained and it turns black or whatever color there is on that layer, then you maybe need to go in to rendermanager and re-render them there, click apply, ok and finish.
And/ Or select one object, select and doubleclick on a LW material and if TC ask if you want to replace material click yes and see if that helps.
Maybe it is something in your Buildt-in, that will be next step if it still dont work, remember to close TC first
Next step is to un-re-install the LW plugin if it still dont work, remember to close TC first
If that dont help, then run the TC installer and select Repair when you got that option
If everything fails, uninstall TC, delete the buildt in, close and restart (cold start) machine, reinstall TC, hopefully you dont need to og all the way :)

Think I've got to the bottom of this now,
I've uninstalled completely and reinstalled, after trying uninstalling & reinstalling LW on its own.
After each reinstall, I've had parts of the program working that were not working previously, but other parts that were not working, now working. For example, after reinstalling I could not access the LW edit materials window from within the materials palette, which I could do previously, but I can now render objects with LW, which I couldn't do before.
I put the issues I've had down to the anti-virus & security software I'm running, (Norton),
I'm fairly sure if I was to disable it and reinstall TurboCad & LW's, it would be fine. But I'm loathe to do this, in view of the current cyber climate, with all those nasties flying around out there.

I think you're being overly cautious.  You can download any software updates, then disable your anti-virus to install.  Rebooting will probably start your anti-virus again (depending on how you disabled it).

Hi Jeff
Yes I might take an image and then take down the security, and go for it.
By the way, that's a decent rig you've got there, what cooling are you running? Have you had a go at overclocking, I think that board comes with oc pre sets up to 4mhz

My system is mostly a couple years old, now (I updated the boot drive to NVMe earlier this year).

I am using a CoolerMaster fan (originally tried an NH-D15, but it wouldn't fit with the graphics card).  Haven't tried overclocking, but it is easy to set up.
