This has been discussed before but was 6 years ago.

Just upgraded to Win7 and now going through all the hiccups involved in getting programs running again.

I use 15.2 as it is fast to load and I only do 2 D drawings.

Some old files I open I get the following

 Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   Tcw15.exe
  Application Version:   15.2.48.3
  Application Timestamp:   491ac82b
  Fault Module Name:   DBAPI15.dll

  OS Version:   6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

Any ideas on a fix ?

Sorry no answers, the file appeared to open fine using my v15.2 and windows 7, the multiline text and dimension style is txt.shx, so if you can't open the attached tcw, either I or someone else could try resending it without the text, which will tell if your system is having trouble with multiline txt.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I got a bit further with your file.

To be honest I wasn't sure from the reply whether the problem was sorted, but anyway.

I exploded the multiline text so its now just standard txt, shx,  and with the dimensions they had something called extended entity data attached, I've no idea what this is, so I exploded the dimensions and then copied everything into a new file.

I had V15 running under 32-bit Windows 7 for a couple years, then it just stopped working (wouldn't even open up completely).  In my case, I resolved the problem by building a 64-bit system and upgrading TurboCAD.

However, you may be able to get further along if you uninstall TurboCAD, then re-install it in Administrator mode.

For some reason I'm not getting an email when someone posts. I just logged on today to see if anything was posted.

Still can't open the saved file. I have my old faithful XP machine on hand. I guess I can open the file and keep deleting bits till I find out what is causing the problem.

I did try Version 18 or 19 some time ago but, sorry to say, the bloatware and other changes etc just frustrated me.

Still TC is one of the best programs I ever had.

Thanks Wallace.

As I only use 2d I have downloaded designer and it seems fine so far and opens the file. I do get an error message but the main data is there.
