Hi all...!
It's been a long time since I posted anything; I've been working on proprietary projects that I couldn't share.

This image is for a TV station newsroom project. The cool thing is, it's a 100MB file, and TCAD(2015) handled it well - glad I upgraded ram to 12GB.
Although...zooms were sometimes achingly slow. It's getting to be new computer time.

One thing I learned in this project is to build my own textures. For laminate and solidsurface finishes, the vendors provide downloadable images, but they're not large enough to avoid pattern repeats. So starting with a single image, and in PSHOP I copied, flipped, and mirrored those images to build an texture about 8x the original size. Then I was able to show the pattern without repeats.

Great looking through what everyone is producing! I'm still using Lightworks.

That is some really fine work, as always.
Looks like it would go in a very upscale situation.

Ya know, you could probably put together a nice Bridge of the Starship Enterprise . . .

Looks great Steve,    nice looking chairs but I can't decide if they would be comfortable or not.

Except for some sections of the carpet, I wouldn't have known this wasn't a photograph.

Very nicely done.

I agree with Jeff. I really did think it was a photograph too. I think you have done an amazing job there. Wish i was 1 tenth as good with materials and rendering as you are. very very nice indeed.

It's great to see more of your work, Steve. And the work itself is great, as always.

Adding the carpet and wall color really made the image pop and get considerably more photo-real; attached is one of the prelims.

I owe most of the lighting to Softbox, a Lightworks lighting system developed by Brad Easterday (www.dean3.com). I believe he no longer sells the software, and stopped updating it with TCAD2015. You might try contacting him and seeing if you can get a copy. It's extraordinary, and I use it as the basis for 95% of my renderings, sometimes adding other lights.

Textures? Well, I'm still learning. This thing I discovered about building a huge texture in photoshop, made from randomized copies, is terrific.
Later, dinner's on.
