FM16 (and earlier) part sizes

When FM16 (and earlier) determine the dimensions of a piece -- in this case a cabinet door it appears that it projects the rectangle which the door occupies on to the world plane (XY) and then onto the Z plane (Vertical). In this case I drew the left door and then rotated the door to show the interior shelf units. The door is the diagonal of the rectangle.

During import into TCFM -- If a piece was drawn at an angle it then creates a piece which is very different from that which was intended.

An example excerpt which shows the problem is attached.

You can see that the left door is not the correct size.

I do not recall seeing an exception in the TC manuals which said that doors must be drawn closed for the optimizer. I do recall examples in movies and the manuals which show the doors open -- so that the interior of the cabinet may be viewed.

Maybe the size information should be extracted from the object.

DOOR_LEFT1 is not correct. It is at an angle so that door is partly open.
DOOR_RIGHT1 has the correct dimensions. The right door is closed. It is at right angles in all planes.

I cannot see how to do what you request. Please explain.

I can send you the original drawing on Friday when I return. Then you can create the same plan and see if you get the same sizes produced.

Milan:

I watched the video and followed it. I am not sure why that is the "correct" way.

The question is -- do the correct dimensions appear in the optimizer after creating the door?

Thanks for testing.

I just started more drawings -- a custom bathroom vanity. I will rerun the video until I understand and get the right part sizes.

WillR,

please, send me your 1 or 2 samples drawings. I can look at this. Maybe you have problem that our attribute  matrix TCFM is written into your symbol.

Thanks
Milan
