Plenty in the product features that jump at me.  Associative arrays, part tree "selective undo/redo", slice solid by surface as a part tree operation shorthands a lot of things for me(same thing can be done now, but requires two copies of solid and surface, and surface has to be thickened, or can be done by formatting, and facet editing, which breaks part tree.  Less than perfect, both long-winded), "new quick pull options" (I was thinking about that recently, my thought is that one option ought to respect adjacent faces, like facet editor, but not break the part tree like facet editor!, extrude, lathe and path sweep non-planar faces.  I'm not expecting much of that wish list to be in the new lineup).  Drafting object breaks, so you don't have to include all the arrow's shaft between the head and fletches.  Unwrapping a curved surface, in addition to the flat and ruled surfaces we've got now.  Node editing a subset of a mesh's nodes rather than staggering along with every vertex coordinate in calculation.  I'm going to have to lie down, it's a lot to look forward to and now the instant gratification monkey's on my back.

hi all

does any one know if 21 will be more stable than 20 and have they got the lightworks editor working properly ????
 >:(
As after v18.2 all newer versions seem to operate slower ,with more glitches.
I must state that this is just my experience on my system, but boy is it getting me mad. more money laid out on upgrades, less work achieved per day.

regards
mark

Hi wd,

my philosophy is to not expect anything, then you may be pleasantly surprised!  :-X

You can design without engineering, but you cannot engineer without design.

Looks like IMSI/Design have converged platinum into a single Pro product level.

re: …have converged Platinum into a single Pro product level.

What gives you that idea?

The "Compare" page doesn't show Designer, their inexpensive 2D entry level product. That should be coming out also, but it's hard to compare with their 3D packages.

There's no mention of Pro and no indication of which of the new tools would come with that, or which are reserved for platinum, nor of an upgrade price for vanilla Pro, while the upgrade price for platinum is in the previous Pro ballpark, rather than a smaller, discrete,  leg up.   As my wife says, clambering nimbly up the ladder of inference.

When I look at the "Upgrade from 20" page (that is linked above) they mention both; "Upgrade to TurboCAD Pro Platinum 21 or TurboCAD Pro 21". If you click on the radio button for the "Pro Download", the price will change to a lower number. The "Compare" link shows what new tools are different. The list below shows what tools are not in Pro Basic.

  • Bend Sheet
  • Flange Sheet
  • Tube Bend
  • Tube Flange
  • Unfold Face
  • Unbend Sheet
  • TurboCAD Coordinates Export Palette
  • Entity Mark
  • Twisted Extrude
  • Branched Lofting
  • Imprint
  • Hole
  • Quick Pull
  • Thread
  • Extrude to Face
  • Pattern—By Curve
  • Pattern—Radial
  • Pattern—Spherical
  • Pattern—Cylindrical
  • Pattern—Array
  • Horizontal Constraint
  • Vertical Constraint
  • SMesh - Split Face
  • SMesh - Extrude Face
  • Only two Window Types, no Shapes
  • Only two Door Types, no Shapes
  • Only one Component for a Wall

I find myself laughing softly at the echo's of that same request, which has reverberated through the years....

Just for kicks... anyone care to post which version of TC they have found that fulfills that wish the best? For me, it was 16.1. I think. Maybe it was 18.1. So far, I am really enjoying 20.2.64.

Went there -- >What's New;
This is 2014, HTML allows you to link examples showing each of these new features, some marketing drebe should be able to do product screen records/shots of each feature in what, 3 hours? Some of your advanced users would take less, a lot less.
